Language Arts Strategist
I grew up on the east side of Des Moines. I graduated from Des Moines Christian High School in 1996. After high school I joined the Army. In the Army I was given the opportunity to live all over the world. I have lived in Maryland, South Carolina, Egypt, Georgia, California, and South Korea. After my return from South Korea I married my high school sweet heart in 2001. I attended Upper Iowa University graduating in 2005 with my degree in elementary education with endorsements in K-6 classroom, Reading, Language Arts, K-12 Coaching, and Middle School Classroom. After graduating in 2005 I taught in fifth and sixth grade at Earlham Elementary. I also coached middle school volleyball and middle school track. In 2007 I started coaching swimming with the Waukee Family YMCA. While coaching swimming I enjoyed many successes watching swimmers grow as athletes and meeting and surpassing personal goals. In May of 2010 my wife and I welcomed our son into our lives and the world. I took a position at Waukee Middle School for the 2010-2011 school year a Reading Strategist. For the 2011-2012 school year I have changed positions to the Language Arts Strategist. It is my job to provide students, teachers, and parents with support inside and outside the classroom.
I look forward to creating an environment in which we can learn together.
